Aquilegia Leaf

Vegetable Leaves

While growing Aquilegia plants for their exquisite flowers, I took a customary nibble of the plant’s leaves and found them to be not just edible but quite acceptable on the palate. The young leaves (before they become fibrous) taste a little like Broad Bean with a floral hint. These work great as part of a mixed wild salad, with vegetables or other savoury dishes.
